Ok...post ilmiah sekali lagi....ni case write up kedua...

Pneumothorax.... pneumo=udara...


Anatomy of the lung



Udara ni akan masuk kat dalam pleural space mcm dlm gambar atas....dan akan jadi mcm ni....



There is air in the pleural space


Pneumothorax can occur either spontaneous, trauma or iatrogenic

Spontaneous : normally occur in thin and tall young man, history of smoking.

Trauma : for example ribs fracture, accident. (any trauma to lung - penetrative injury to lung)

Iatrogenic : in other word because of the doctor, eg : procedure at chest

The patient will complain of sudden pleuritic chest pain...pleuritic chest pain means that the pain will be exaggerate by breathing(inhale and exhale) and coughing. The patient will also have difficulty in breathing.



Treatment

chest tube ni akan sambung kat underwater drainage ni



Treatment for pneumothorax are chest tube insertion(if massive pneumothorax) or just pleural aspiration(if small amount of air)

When the patient recover, he will be advise to stop smoke, because smoking will definitely recur the pneumothorax. Eventhough he stops smoking, there is still a chance for the pneumothorax to recur (smaller chance than patient who continue smoking).
